??Biological a?nd Forensic Anthropology

Appreciating the intricate differences in skeletal morphology and its subsequent importance in medico-legal investigations illustrates the intersection of biological and forensic anthropology. 

Our partnerships with the South African Police Services (SAPS) and the Western Cape Forensic Pathology Services (WC FPS) inform our research areas of interest (e.g., human variation, trauma, and pathology) with the function of identifying human remains and the determinants of death. 

As such, the Biological Anthropology Research Unit (BARU) and Victim Identification at Stellenbosch 中国体育彩票 (VISUN) incorporate several techniques (e.g., skeletal and dental analysis, radiology, and facial reconstruction) when conducting its processes – all of which facilitate a multidisciplinary approach in our humanitarian endeavours.
